Andria Olinger
Andria is from Minnesota and now lives in Elephant Butte, NM. Overall, her desire as an artist is to learn and grow as she goes. She's experimented with many mediums and ultimately, chose to work with Encaustics. Encaustic is a very old art form which the Greeks and Romans used in their funerary portraits and for patching leaks in their ships. It is made by melting natural beeswax and mixing it with darmar tree resin. The resin helps the soft beeswax harden over time. One of Andria's favorite New Mexican artists, Georgia O'Keeffe, stated, "I paint what I see, as I see it and in my own way." Andria works in the same way. Working with molten beeswax is challenging and Andria is always up for the challenge.
