Ariel Dougherty is an independent filmmaker with over fifty years of film teaching, curating, mentoring, producing, administrating, and directing under her belt. An expert on feminist media making, especially of the 1970s (she co-founded in 1972 Women Make Movies, today the globe's largest distributor of women directed films), she has encouraged women's visions break loose of patriarchal domination. She established SPLICE Residency as a space for filmmakers and visual artists of small scale works to produce new works and engage with our community.
