An early influence, was my father’s close friend, celebrated, California mid-century, abstract expressionist Artist, and creator of the Assemblage Art form, Gordon Wagner. As a child, I tagged along with my father to visit Gordon in his studio while he described paintings he was working on. My father also took me to visit art museums, and to see famous murals by Mexican artists such as Diego Rivera. He fostered my talent, and love for the arts. Even early in my childhood, I recall using oil paints to paint by number, which seems kind of funny now, but it gave me confidence in my ability to control my brush and paint even though I was quite young.
My travels have also been a part of my education, with regards to the art world. I have visited most every major art museum in Europe, and seen original works done by many artists considered Masters. I stayed actively involved in my creative artistic endeavors, while enjoying a career in teaching primarily art; College level, middle school, and the last several years at Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego, California. Since my retirement from teaching I’ve devoted much more time to producing art.
